Certain things happen in fashion that cause an absolute pause. It’s not a build-up, a gradual ascent of a label into perfection, it’s just a pause; a moment where everything comes together – perfectly. Those moments translate later into iconic, memorable, unforgettable – or plainawesome.
In 2011, when Vans embraced vintage Hermes scarves, AWESOME was created! This project was the result of stylist and TV personality Robert Verdi giving his prized vintage silk Hermes scarves to Vans to create this special collection of slip ons.
Now here’s the real bummer, imagine queuing at your favorite fast food place only to be told at your turn, “It’s finished.” with your stomach churning and mouth poised to order? Remember that feeling? Well that times a 100! ‘because you & I, we won’t get the chance feel these beauties on our feet as this is a totally unofficial, one of a kind, private collection that won’t go to market as a collaboration between the two brands.
We can still dream though! Enjoy the collection – the visual appeal and the story behind it anyway.
